Exploring Masculinity from a feminist approach

Everyone has preconceived notions and beliefs about masculinity and femininity. We have picked them up simply by growing up; through family, friends or bullies, education, by what we hear and see in popular culture. Often, people find it difficult to talk about these concepts. Let’s come out and say that it doesn’t have to be. Nothing has to be predefined –things are what we make them! Join us for this event and let’s explore masculinity together.

For this event we will come together to be curious about our own beliefs and behaviours, and to reflect on our preconceived notions. What does it mean to be masculine? How do we celebrate our ways of being? How can we become better at recognising toxic behaviour? Questions like these (and many more) will be explored through immersive storytelling with the artists’ collective SPACE and sharing circles guided by the collective menSEN. Dinner will be provided, and in the evening, we will enjoy a drag performance. 

We warmly invite people of all ages and genders -whether you have been socialised as a man, a woman, or in another way- to join the conversation. The main language is English but translators will be available if you are more comfortable speaking Dutch.

Note: For those that wish to celebrate this event with a gender-bender outfit, they’re more than welcome to do so!
